Tooth Extractions

Tooth extractions are a common dental procedure. When it becomes a necessity, a tooth extraction is a straightforward procedure which will remove a damaged tooth. This damage can be caused by disease, poor dental hygiene, or simply through natural decay. By far, the most frequently extracted teeth are wisdom teeth. Prior to extraction, any attempt to save the tooth is made because it eliminates the need for other restorative dentistry procedures.

Root Canals

Root canals are a restorative treatment that is done to try to save a tooth. You may need a root canal treatment if the pulp, the soft tissue at the core of a tooth is damaged or perhaps injured. The dental pulp consists of living connective tissues, including nerves and blood vessels, and plays a role in the growth of a tooth. Since the pulp has nerves, it tends to cause a lot of pain when it is affected by an infection or injury. Various things can contribute to damage to the pulp including cracks, decay, or a dental procedure performed on an adjacent tooth. When you have a damaged pulp, you experience swelling of the gums and tooth sensitivity. Luckily, a root canal treatment can resolve the problem and save your tooth. Our dental specialists at Esthetic Smiles perform a root canal procedure after examination of the tooth and root to see the extent of the damage.

While the health of our teeth is the most important, the cosmetics of our teeth are also important. Invisalign clear aligners offer both. Braces and aligners can help improve your oral health. Malocclusion can also make it more difficult for you to keep your teeth clean, due to issues like uneven spacing and crowding. Addressing this issue can help improve your ability to brush and floss, which means you may reduce your risk of developing tooth decay and gum disease. Getting orthodontic work as an adult may also mean that you can help prevent bone loss and straining in your jaw muscles.

Invisalign are clear aligner trays made out of a plastic material that you use to align your teeth. These aligners have many benefits, including that they are clear and removable. While you are undergoing Invisalign treatment, people may not even be aware, as the aligners are virtually unnoticeable. They are comfortable, as they gently move your teeth into their desired position. You will receive new aligner trays approximately every two weeks. Invisalign treatment is generally shorter than traditional metal braces. Aligners should be worn for 22 hours a day, only to be removed while eating and brushing. There are no restrictions to the foods you can eat and removable aligners make cleaning your teeth easy and the same as before you had Invisalign.
