Is An Electric Toothbrush Better?

Is An Electric Toothbrush Better?Over the years, the dental industry has had many technological advances. Advanced technology has resulted in the development of modern electric toothbrushes, but what are their benefits?

More efficient plaque removal

A review of studies shows that electric toothbrushes do, on average, work better than manual toothbrushes at getting rid of plaque and gingivitis. After three months of use, the plaque was 21% less, and the gingivitis was 11% less. Compared to only vibrating toothbrushes, oscillating (rotating) toothbrushes appear to perform better.

Easier for those with a limited range of motion

Most of the work is done by electric toothbrushes. Anyone with limited mobility, such as those suffering from carpal tunnel syndrome, arthritis, or developmental difficulties, may find them helpful.

Timers built-in

One can brush their teeth for the recommended amount of time to effectively remove plaque from their teeth and gums using an electric toothbrush with a timer.

Potentially less waste

It might be less wasteful to throw away a whole manual toothbrush when it's time for a new one. However, most electric toothbrushes only need to have the head changed. If you use an electric toothbrush that only works once, you will have to buy a new one when it wears out.

It may help one concentrate better while brushing.

At least one study has discovered that using an electric toothbrush helped people concentrate better. This makes brushing more enjoyable and may impact how effectively one cleans their teeth.

May enhance dental health in those wearing braces.

An electric toothbrush makes brushing easier for people wearing orthodontic hardware like braces. Plaque levels are roughly the same whether an electric toothbrush is used or not among those with appliances who already have good dental health. However, using an electric toothbrush may help their oral health if they find it challenging to brush their teeth while receiving orthodontic treatment.

Children's fun

Not every child enjoys cleaning their teeth. If one child finds an electric toothbrush more enjoyable, it can aid in proper dental hygiene and good habits.
