What Is Impacted Wisdom Teeth?Impacted wisdom teeth can be described as third molars which grow below a gums surface and lacks enough space to develop like normal teeth. These teeth emerge at a certain odd angle and partially penetrate through the gum or can be stuck under the gums wholly hence can cause complications. To know if a wisdom tooth is impacted one can only visit a hospital where the dentist determines whether the practice is doable at their level or whether to be referred to an oral surgeon.

Extraction of An Impacted Wisdom Tooth

Impacted wisdom teeth which remain under the gums can cause problems such as jaw tenderness, soreness, and even pain especially while chewing progressing to difficulty in swallowing. An impacted wisdom tooth can also appear as part of it and this can result in food particles collecting under the gum edge. This causes difficulty in cleaning and the dentist may advise the use of cleaning methods or tooth removal. Extraction of an impacted wisdom tooth follows a certain procedure which involves; identification of the tooth, removal of some bone to have access, splitting of the tooth with roots removed separately, and gum replacement.

Treatment of an impacted wisdom teeth

It is possible to deal with an impacted wisdom tooth even at home. If one notices swollen and painful gum, then it's advisable to use warm water with some salt to rinse the tooth where a toothbrush is unable to reach. If this is of no help, then it's good to reach out to a dentist. He/she will determine the cause resulting to the problem and then give the way forward like the use of antibiotics or removal of the tooth.

After the tooth is removed one may experience some discomfort and swelling for a while and this requires good follow-up of the given advice to fasten healing. The use of painkillers also helps in reducing the pain.
